James Milton Turner

James Milton Turner, 93, of South Solon, went to get his wings, Wednesday December 10, 2008. He was born October 3, 1915, a son of William and Lucy (Shaw) Turner, in Cedarville, OH.

James was a WWII Veteran and fought in the Pacific and European Theater in the U.S. Army. He was a farmer all his life and worked at White Motors in Springfield until he retired.

James also worked part-time for Par Striping and was an avid gardener and traveled world wide. He loved life with such passion and was the Grand Marshall of the South Solon Memorial Day parade in 2008. He was also a long time member of the South Solon Christian Fellowship (South Solon United Church of Christ). His greatest pleasures were fixing anything; but above all, loved his family and all things great and small. He was an outstanding husband, father and friend and was said to be like "the Energizer Bunny:.

Left to mourn his loss are his two daughters, Rebecca Jane Turner (Jack) Miesmer of Columbus, OH and Elizabeth "Libby" Ann Turner of South Solon, OH; three sisters, Beatrice Aden, Genevieve Beck and Maude McDonald all of Grand Junction; brother Greg Turner and beloved sister-in-law, Helen Curry; brother-in-law, Robert Armstrong; many other relatives and friends.

Preceeding him in death were his wife, Ruth (Correll) Turner; his parents; sister, Charlotte L. Armstrong.

Visitation will be held from 5-8PM Monday December 15, 2008 in the INGLING WILLIAMS Funeral Home, South Charleston, OH. A Celebration of James' life will be held 11AM Tuesday December 16, 2008 in the South Solon Christian Fellowship 12980 South Washington St. S.R.41 South Solon, OH 43153 with Rev. John Crutchfield officiating. Interment to follow in the South Solon Cemetery.
